Ordering Textbooks

Attention Students who plan to ship books overseas:  Please list the books
you wish to order in a separate list to bookstore@gmu.edu.

All students are required to have the most current edition of the books for each course in their graduate program from the start of the course. Late editions of books and failure to obtain books at the beginning of the course will cause a student to be behind in a course, which may result in grade penalties.

Students taking courses at the Arlington campus will purchase their books at the Arlington bookstore. Students taking courses at the Fairfax campus or online will purchase their books at the Fairfax bookstore. Students taking online courses that cannot buy them in person can order them through the Fairfax campus bookstore by following these guidelines:

1.    Go to: http://gmu.bncollege.com/

2.    Click on Textbooks at the top of the page

3.    Select a Term: Fall, Spring, Summer

4.    Select a Department:  In order to determine the correct department, you will need to know the prefix of the course you are taking. Use either your registration form or our course schedule on our website as your guide (i.e. – EDUC, EDRD, EDCI); please note that there are many duplicate course numbers, but the prefixes will be different. For example, there is EDUC 516 (elementary course) and EDCI 516 (ESOL course). They are two different courses and will have different textbooks. If you make a mistake, you may purchase the wrong book.

5.    Select the Course: i.e. 511, 516, etc.

6.    Select a Section:  Check your enrollment in Patriot Web to determine the section you are taking. Some books may vary by section.

If you need to have a book mailed overseas, please write to bookstor@gmu.edu, address your message to Lee and include in your message:

  1. Name of course(s) - including section number
  2. Indicate that course is a contract course
  3. Name of instructor
  4. Credit card information, including the name on the card, expiration date and type of card
  5. FULL address for shipping, including phone number of address
  6. Type of mail service (i.e. overnight, priority), Fed, Ex., DHL, etc.
  7. Name of program (FAST TRAIN)

In order to ensure the best accuracy for textbooks, we recommend that you only use the GMU bookstore for ordering books.
